If the past year has taught us anything, it is that we live in uncertain times. We are facing unprecedented levels of complexity and volatility that result in rapid social, technological, and environmental changes in our lives. This disruption is not something that new skills and simple answers alone can resolve. It calls for competencies like new ways of speaking and listening, as well as the cognitive capacity to integrate multiple perspectives (e.g., the value to companies of both profits and a healthy and happy workforce). An emphasis on building new competencies is part of what makes our coaching unique.

 

Our approach works off a simple assumption – the person you are at home is the same person you are at work. As a result, you are probably encountering the same challenges, regardless of your setting. While the challenges may be the same, they probably manifest in different, setting-specific ways. The effects that show up at the office will be different from the effects that show up at home. This is where a more subtle, and often overlooked, pitfall of coaching tends to arise. A coach who is only focusing on one aspect of your life may never have a bigger picture of your life as a whole. Without this vantage point, the scope of coaching is often limited to solving problems rather than building long-term resilience. Helping our clients build these long-term competencies is our mission.

Our coaching works with all areas of your life in service of addressing the underlying issues that may be getting in the way of your desired outcomes. In the design of our coaching programs, we focus on the cognitive, emotional, relational, and somatic dimensions of your life and investigate how all of these elements integrate together. By examining all areas of your life, the common impediments can emerge and we can help determine what competencies will move you toward your desired outcomes. It is important to note that competence is distinct from a goal. A goal is something you achieve, like getting a promotion or losing ten pounds. Competence is a capacity that endures. It helps us achieve particular goals and stays with us afterwards. For example, speaking in a way that moves people to action can contribute to a promotion. It can also open up new possibilities for our friendships, family life, and health. 

 

If you are looking for a way to shift the obstacles you are encountering, working with a coach is an option to consider. Over the course of your customized coaching program, you will learn structures and techniques that will help you identify blindspots, learn new strategies to deal with difficulties, and make the changes you want for your life in a sustainable and long-lived way. 

How to get started

The first step is to book a chemistry meeting with a coach. This call will give you a chance to meet a potential coach, ask questions, and learn more about the coaching process. You are more than welcome to set up chemistry calls with one or both of our coaches to help you determine who would be a good fit for your needs.
